Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the United States and the tenth deepest in the world. It also is the highest lake of its size in the country – 22 miles long and 12 miles wide, and if tipped on its side it contains enough water to supply everyone in the country with 50 gallons of water a day! Discover the “new” South Lake Tahoe as you explore Heavenly Village and take a ride on the Heavenly Gondola. The views are spectacular! At 10,067 feet, Heavenly is Tahoe’s highest mountain and is so massive that it lies in two states – California and Nevada. Next, you’re off to Zephyr Cove where you’ll relax on a narrated cruise of Lake Tahoe aboard the M.S. Dixie II Paddlewheeler. In the afternoon try your luck at one of the casinos that dot the shoreline. If gambling is not in your cards, play hard and bike the Tahoe Basin and jump on the Tahoe Rim Trail at Brockway Summit or hike the Martis Peak Fire Lookout. Return to Sacramento in the evening.
